Happy Birthday to Kyle Lowry, Sheryl Swoopes, Bob Sura

Today a few people with ties to Houston are celebrating birthdays. Bob Sura closed his career with the Rockets, though he was only able to play one season due to knee and back injuries that forced him to retire before he really wanted to. Sura tried a comeback with the Rockets in '07, but that never panned out for him. It kind of sucks to think that the last game Sura ever played was a 40 point loss to the Mavericks in game 7 of the first round. I remember falling asleep during this game. Sura's best overall game for the Rockets came in January of '05 against the Nets. He went off for a career high 35 points that night, in helping Houston defeat New Jersey in overtime. Sura is perhaps best known for almost finishing with three consecutive triple doubles for the Atlanta Hawks. He was also a part of the Rasheed Wallace trade that sent Sheed to the eventual NBA Champion Detroit Pistons.

Speaking of triple doubles, Kyle Lowry appears to have started celebrating his birthday earlier this week. On Sunday, Lowry led the Rockets in a very close victory over the Utah Jazz. He finished the night 28 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists, good for his first career triple double. Lowry followed that up with a double double against the Warriors, finishing the night with 13 points and 12 dimes. Chuck Hayes kept the triple double streak alive for Houston by getting his first career triple double. More importantly, Houston kept trucking right along. Houston will play next in Miami on Sunday and then in New Jersey on Tuesday. After that, my girlfriend and I will be in attendance to watch the Rockets take on 76ers. It will be my first time seeing the Rockets live in over seven years. I am very excited to see this team. Also, we are sitting very close. I hope the Rockets inch even closer to the 8th playoff spot in these three games.

Also, happy birthday to Dale Davis (42) and Marco Belinelli (25).
